"I'd score it 10/10 - The videos, activities and organisation have been of the highest standard. A real highlight of my year and of huge value"
(Teacher taking part in a bespoke Deaf Awareness Week produced by The Art Room with Sarah B Davies and qualified Teacher of the Deaf Aaron Blythe)
"Sarah's resources are extremely helpful and clearly designed. The workshop sessions are extremely engaging and interesting. They are definitely ideas we will plan to use again with a different year group."

"It has changed my practice. My class has benefitted from it and I have benefitted from it.
It has pushed me out of my comfort zone."

"My art 1:1 involved paper folding using handmade papers to create my own 8-page book. I was then encouraged to recall a family event in my life and asked to explore why this memory remained significant - what senses were ignited during this memory: sounds, smells, textures etc. I filled the first pages with drawings inspired by this memory. I was then asked to detail the journey to that place in my memory, creating an adventurous map that filled more pages of my book. My book ended with a letter written to myself, promising to reconnect with family which was something niggling at me under the surface. There was no criticism of my style or ability, sarah explores the personal story not the skill or method. She spent the whole time making something too so that the focus was never solely on me, but on what we could agree on together. What a wonderful experience and a truly unique piece of art as a result!"

“This was very wonderful. It's been brilliant to focus in on something. Thank you Sarah and everyone for sharing such beautiful words and pictures. It has been great and an activity I will share with those I support.”

"The children were fully engaged and enjoyed every minute of the workshop. We really enjoyed all the artist's activities. The artist was extremely flexible and fantastic at rejigging the timetable to best suit both classes involved."

"Thank you very much, it helped me to talk about what’s happening to me at the moment."
(Psychotherapist - Wellbeing art workshop participant, 2021)
"Everything was completed to a high standard and Sarah was amazing with the children. The day ended on an absolute high with the children curating their exhibition, independent from adult input. Sarah was absolutely fantastic to work with, she really cared and listened to the children. She inspired the children to really care about the process of their work, leading up to their exhibition. The exhibition was really enjoyed by the children's parents, other staff and children in the school. We had lots of positive feedback."
(Teacher 2018)
"Really enjoyed this workshop and people sharing what they did at the end. I started feeling most comfortable using text but moved more to drawing, even though my art skills are very limited!"
(Art workshop participant, 2021)
"The children really enjoyed the process of making a wellbeing map. I'd definitely use it again with my class"
(Teacher)
"The prompts were really easy to follow and respond to, thank you for this! You have also inspired me again to go sea-searching which I can't wait to do! :)"
(Art workshop participant)
"Think this would be great for the asylum seekers to find happier memories once again"
(Psychotherapist - Wellbeing art workshop participant, 2021)
"I did this workshop online during lockdown. Sarah made every step totally clear, which was needed as I have never made a booklet out of folding before. She showed a lovely example and inspired us to think of our own content rather than copying hers. We were free to write, draw or anything on the pages to illustrate our feelings
and I am left with a lovely zine and ideas for making more."
(Wellbeing art workshop participant)
“I can’t believe what my children manage to achieve in such a short amount of time at art club! It’s always really well thought out and lovely, thank you Sarah!” (Art club parent)
“Really lovely to revisit a special memory and weave it into a zine. A great keep sake. Thank you”
(Teacher - wellbeing art workshop participant)
“It was a brilliant workshop. I'm the least artsy person you can imagine and yet thoroughly enjoyed my time. Both me and my wife attended, the format worked really well and it's something wholesome and different to do as a couple activity.” (Wellbeing art workshop participant)
"This workshop made me think hard about imagery and as a result I valued the subject more."
(Art workshop participant)
“Thank you from two happy artists and their mum”
(Gallery family workshops)
“I really enjoyed this workshop with Sarah. I went in with an idea in mind, but was totally surprised with the end results. Sarah's helpful prompting and guidance inspired me to do something totally different and I'm all the more happy for it. I'm not the best artist, but the creation of the zine is what is most important here, and despite being in a room full of other students, I could zone out to my own wonderful creative space. Highly recommended :)”
(Wellbeing art workshop participant)
"I really think zines are great! I think it is because the page is so small that there isn't the pressure to fill the whole page with excellent writing or drawing, you can be more free.
Sarah is very relaxed and encouraging and the class found the whole workshop fun."
(Teacher)
“This was an excellent class. I had heard of zines but never tried to make one before. I can't wait to make more!"
(Ideal Home Exhibition)
“Loved the idea of story rocks, such a unique change to the idea of painting rocks. We will be keeping ours rather than leaving it for others to find!”
(Art club parent)
“Thanks for all the amazing skills and creative pieces. My child has really enjoyed art club.”
